A Bit of Inspiration

The beloved Calvin and Hobbes making a valid point

One nice feature WordPress introduced a while back was inspirational writing quotes that appear with the editing options once you make a post.  I think these are always pretty interesting, but I find it ironic that you have to actually hit “Publish” before you can see them.  They also have yet to include a few of my absolute favorites.

So I would like to share those now.

The most important training, though, is to experience life as a writer, questioning everything, inventing multiple explanations for everything.
~ Orson Scott Card

The difference between the almost right word and the right word is … the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.
~ Mark Twain

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them — words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they’re brought out.
~ Stephen King

There are certainly many more that inspire me in some way or another, but these are quotes that hit home the most for me.  In fact, the Orson Scott Card quote is one of my two favorite from him.  The other is not writing related, but an interesting observation nonetheless.

If only we could stand outside our lives and look at what we do, we might repair so many injuries before they’re done.
~ Orson Scott Card, Hart’s Hope

I hope these in turn inspire you.  🙂
